Vehicle Fire Extinguished on Highland Avenue

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Wednesday, Jan. 1

  • At 5:28 p.m., police conducted a well-being heck on Dearborn Street.
  • At 7:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a man kicking a front door on Salem Street. Kyle M. Callahan, 26, of 31 Salem St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (water), misleading police and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 8:35 p.m., police made an arrest on Salem Street. John N. Diaz, 21, of 31 Salem St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Thursday, Jan. 2

  • At 1:35 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on First Street. Derrick J. Lambert, 40, of 99 North St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 11:42 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Highland Avenue.
  • At 11:42 a.m., police and fire units responded to a vehicle fire on Bridge Street.
  • At 12:03 p.m., police and fire units responded to a two-alarm fire on Pierce Avenue. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 1:33 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Forest Avenue.
  • At 3:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a damaged fire hydrant on Washington Street. The DPW was notified.
  • At 4:48 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on North Street.
  • At 6:02 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on School Street. Joseph W. Duffy, 46, of 68 School St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order.
  • At 8:28 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person on Boston Street.

Friday, Jan. 3

  • At 8:34 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Summer Street.
  • At 10:08 a.m., a woman on North Street called police to report that she just witnessed a woman known to her scratching her vehicle with a candlestick. Lindsey L. Brown, 28, of 48 Abington Ave., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
  • At 1:03 p.m., police responded to a dispute over snow on Ocean Avenue West.
  • At 1:17 p.m., police and fire units responded to a vehicle fire on Highland Avenue.
  • At 2:10 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Halsey Way.
  • At 2:56 p.m., police responded to a past assault on North Street.
  • At 10:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a burn victim behind the Walmart on Highland Avenue. A homeless couple were burned when their tent caught on fire.
