Salem Police Make Drug Arrest on Dow Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Friday, Sept. 20

  • At 5:23 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Prince Street.
  • At 5:50 p.m., a Jefferson Avenue business owner called police to report that someone stole the flag from the front of her store.
  • At 6:08 p.m., police made an arrest at the police station on Margin Street. John V. Carlson, 44, of 29 Houghton St., Peabody, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident near the intersection of Loring Avenue and Paradise Road.
  • At 6:51 p.m., police stopped a man near the intersection of Lafayette and Dow streets. Brendan M. Thomas, 27, of 12 Pope St., Salem, was arrested on charges of illegally possessing a class B substance (Suboxone) and illegally possessing a class E substance (Xanax).
  • At 9:04 p.m., police located a man wanted in connection to a string of recent parking meter thefts on Lafayette Street. Geoff D. Kellum, 30, of 16 Huron St., Swampscott, was arrested on charges of possessing burglarious tools, trespassing and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants Also arrested was Rudy Reyes, 20, of 11 Harbor St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
  • At 11:26 p.m., police responded to a report of people sleeping at the Broad Street Cemetery.

Saturday, Sept. 21

  • At 12:18 a.m., police responded to the Veterans Memorial Bridge for a reported jumper.
  • At 1:19 a.m., police responded to a loud party on Prince Street. Zachary R. Trayers, 24, of 51 Prince St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace. 
  • At 1:48 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Leach Street.
  • At 2:12 a.m., an officer monitoring traffic noticed two vehicles racing at a high rate of speed.
  • At 10:40 a.m., police were called to retrieve a knife found in the road near the intersection of Boston and Bridge streets.
  • At 11:44 a.m., an Essex Street woman called police to report that two bicycles were stolen off of her rear porch sometime in the last month.
  • At 1:27 p.m., police responded to shoplifting incident at Petsmart on Traders Way.
  • At 4:27 p.m., a man called police to report that he just saw someone deflating a vehicle's tire at the Salem Willows.
  • At 5:07 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant near the intersection of Lafayette and Harbor streets. Xavier Marquez, 48, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 5:38 p.m., police responded to a reported domestic assault and batter on Lee Fort Terrace.
  • At 9:13 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Hazel Street.
  • At 9:44 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault and battery on Dow Street.
  • At 10:54 p.m., police responded to a report of two men assaulting an elderly man on Essex Street.

Sunday, Sept. 22

  • At 12:13 a.m., police responded to a reported fight outside of Tavern in the Square. Two men were placed into protective custody.
  • At 12:36 a.m., a Jefferson Avenue resident called police to report that their flower basket had been stolen.
  • At 12:40 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street. 
  • At 1:09 a.m., police responded to a loud party on Mason Street.
  • At 1:28 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bridge Street.
  • At 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a man exposing himself on Lafayette Street. Police did not locate anyone in the area.
  • At 9:12 a.m., a juvenile was arrested on Central Street.
  • At 3:06 p.m., police responded to a report of a downed tree limb on power lines on Lafayette Street.  
Other arrests: 

Domingo Gautier-Romero, 38, of 60 Salem St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. 

Charles A. Morris Jr., 50, of 60 Lee Fort Terrace, Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery on a person older than 60 and intimidating a witness.
