Pond Street Man Arrested on Attempted Murder Charges

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Wednesday, Feb. 5

  • At 4:01 p.m., police responded to a report of snowballers on Barr Street.
  • At 6:31 p.m., police responded to a report of a man making suicidal comments on Margin Street.
  • At 6:52 p.m., a Ward Street resident entered the police station to report domestic issued that occurred in Tennessee.
  • At 8:13 p.m., police responded to a dispute with a plow truck driver on Ober Street.
  • At 9:26 p.m., police responded to The Hawthorne Hotel for a report of a customer refusing to pay his bar tab. The man was issued a no trespass order.
  • At 9:31 p.m., police responded to a past shoplifting incident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:48 p.m., police responded to a report of an out-of-control 17-year-old on Lawrence Street. A minor was arrested.
  • At 10:11 p.m., a man turned himself over to police near the intersection of Washington Square North and Winter Street. Miguel A. Hernandez, 28, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 10:13 p.m., Salem State University police made an arrest on Lafayette Street. Nicholas O. Meserve, 21, of the streets of Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 10:25 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pond Street. Donald L. White Jr., 56, of 5 Pond St., Salem, was arrested on charges of threatening to commit a crime (murder), three counts of assault and battery, five counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot, radiator) and two counts of attempted murder (strangulation).
  • At 11:48 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Dow Street.

Thursday, Feb. 6

  • At 12:52 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Highland Avenue.
  • At 1:38 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Dow Street. An arrest warrant was issued.
  • At 9:06 a.m., police responded to a road rage incident on Marlborough Road.
  • At 9:14 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Margin Street.
  • At 9:40 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Bridge Street.
  • At 10:59 a.m., police executed a search warrant on Porter Street Court. Xavier Garcia-Borbon, 21, of 10 Porter Street Court, Salem, was arrested on charges of possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of ammunition. Victor A. Pimental, 21, of 10 Peabody St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 11:14 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Essex Street.
  • At 11:40 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Willson Street.
  • At 12:18 p.m., police made an arrest on Boston Street. Bjorn A. Nichols, 20, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 1:11 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Pond Street.
  • At 1:23 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity outside PetSmart on Traders Way. Henrique A. Ortmayer, 19, of 45 Washington St., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of possessing a class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 1:45 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Crescent Drive.
  • At 3:56 p.m., police responded to a parking dispute on Salem Street.
  • At 4:19 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on North Street.
