Chimney Fire Extinguished on Parker Court

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Monday, April 7

  • At 4:10 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Essex Street.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man approaching women near the intersection of Margin and Gedney streets.
  • At 5:08 p.m., police responded to a reported dog attack on Bridge Street.
  • At 5:28 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Washington and Harbor streets.
  • At 5:42 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Washington Street. Jose A. Negron, 38, of 78 Market St., Amesbury, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 6:00 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Porter Street Court. A laptop was reported stolen.
  • At 6:48 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Cedar Avenue.
  • At 6:57 p.m., police responded to a report of a past fight in the parking lot of the Walmart on Highland Avenue.
  • At 7:09 p.m., police and fire units responded to a chimney fire on Parker Court. The fire was extinguished without injury or serious structural damage.
  • At 10:42 p.m., police responded to a possible fire on Rawlins Street.
  • At 10:53 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lafayette Street.
  • At 10:56 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Bridge Street.

Tuesday, April 8:

  • At 5:03 a.m., police responded to a car alarm complaint on First Street.
  • At 5:12 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Highland Avenue.
  • At 8:05 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 8:49 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Street.
  • At 12:10 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Howard Street. A woman was placed into protective custody.
  • At 12:17 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Norton Terrace.
  • At 1:42 p.m., police responded to a report of past threats on Heritage Drive.
  • At 2:53 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Marlborough Road.
  • At 3:45 p.m., police made an arrest on Margin Street. Emman R. Almonte, 26, of 123 Lawton Ave., Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 4:33 p.m., police made an arrest on Bridge Street. John H. Smith, 44, of 91 Cabot St., Beverly, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 4:45 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Washington Street.
