Salem Man Arrested on Unarmed Robbery Charge

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Sunday, Dec. 29
:

  • At 3:33 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Mason Street.
  • At 5:19 p.m., police responded to a report of malicious damage to a motor vehicle on Briggs Street.
  • At 5:58 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Mason Street.
  • At 6:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a customer leaving East Sakura Buffet without paying a $95.98 bill. The customer was later located an agreed to pay his tab.
  • At 8:41 p.m., police responded to a vehicle break-in on Pickman Street.
  • At 10:21 p.m., a white powder discovered at Salem Hospital was turned over to police.
  • At 11:54 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Palmer Street. Salem police will seek a warrant for Claude McClain on charges of armed robbery, burglary, attempted murder, two counts of domestic assault battery, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (floor, wall), assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) and for having two outstanding warrants.

Monday, Dec. 30

  • At 2:12 a.m., police responded to a report of someone honking their horn on Hancock Street.
  • At 2:19 a.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on North Street.
  • At 9:26 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious package on Commercial Street.
  • At 10:20 a.m., police responded to a report of an abandoned motor vehicle on Bristol Street.
  • At 12:24 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Nursery Street.
  • At 12:49 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bridge Street.
  • At 1:53 p.m., police made an arrest on Federal Street. Tia M. Jones, 47, of 31 Lili St., Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:20 p.m., police made an arrest on Highland Avenue. Jane A. O'Connor, 45, of 117 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:23 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on North Street.
  • At 4:53 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in in the Walmart parking lot on Highland Avenue.
  • At 5:50 p.m., police responded to a report of people going through the trash on Pickman Street.

Other Arrest:

Michael A. Castaldo, 22, of 116 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, unarmed robbery, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, malicious destruction of property valued below $250 and two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon.
