Salem Police Nab Alleged Vehicle Burglar on Webb Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Monday, Feb. 17

  • At 4:09 p.m., police responded to a past assault on Mason Street.
  • At 4:29 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Highland Avenue. Dinora Miranda, 25, of 20 Salem St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of operating an uninsured motor vehicle, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 6:54 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Ames Street.
  • At 7:17 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on First Street.
  • At 7:30 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Pingree Street.
  • At 7:46 p.m., police made an arrest on Margin Street. Keon Dow was arrested on charges of failure to stop for police, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.
  • At 8:51 p.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man walking in the travel lane on Highland Avenue. A man was placed into protective custody.
  • At 9:09 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Heritage Drive.
  • At 9:38 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Church Street.
  • At 9:49 p.m., police responded to a report of an animal stuck in a dumpster on Lafayette Street.
  • At 10:06 p.m., a man called police to report that his mountain bike was stolen from in front of the Shaw's Supermarket on Traders Way.
  • At 10:18 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle near the intersection of Lafayette and Laurel streets. 
  • At 11:13 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Pope Street. Michael A. Maciver, 48, of 203 Washington St., Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense.

Tuesday, Feb. 18

  • At 12:54 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 1:31 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Lafayette Street.
  • At 2:06 a.m., police responded to a report of a man breaking into a vehicle near the intersection of Webb and Collins streets. Wayne P. Daffe, 21, of 62 Derby St., Salem, was arrested on charges of attempting to commit a crime (vehicle break-in), illegally possessing a class C substance (Clonazepam) and for violating the city's knife ordinance.
  • At 9:10 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Lafayette and Leavitt streets. A pedestrian was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and a driver was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk.
  • At 10:05 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on First Street.
  • At 12:22 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Valiant Way. A man was placed into protective custody.
  • At 1:40 p.m., the local animal control officer responded to a report of a sick duck near Saltonstall Parkway.
  • At 1:43 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Bridge and St. Peter streets.
  • At 2:29 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Washington Street.
  • At 3:24 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Collins Street.
  • At 4:44 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Nightingale Lane.
