Cyclist Struck on Loring Avenue

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Monday, Dec. 9


  • At 5:40 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Naumkeag Street.
  • At 6:04 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Wisteria Street.
  • At 8:57 p.m., police and fire units responded to a reported boiler fire on Flint Street. Firefighters vented the home. 
  • At 9:24 p.m., Salem State University police made an arrest near the intersection of Canal Street and Broadway. 
  • At 10:37 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Beaver Street.
  • At 10:43 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Watson Street.
  • At 11:48 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist on Loring Avenue.

Tuesday, Dec. 10

  • At 12:59 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lafayette Street. Cathal M. Glynn, 38, of 249 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 8:24 a.m., police responded to a report of past damage to a motor vehicle on Phelps Street.
  • At 9:12 a.m., police responded to a road rage incident on Pope Street.
  • At 9:32 a.m., police responded to a fight on Derby Street.
  • At 11:27 a.m., police responded to a report of a train idling on Bridge Street. Officers determined that Pan Am Railways had a maintenance crew working on a locomotive.
  • At 1:42 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Loring Avenue.
  • At 2:24 p.m., police responded to a report of possible break-in on First Street.
  • At 2:36 p.m., police responded to a report of a tree branch on power lines near the intersection of Loring Avenue and Cedarview Street.
  • At 2:40 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Howard Street.

Other Arrests:

Curtis Stubbs, 22, of 10 Dana St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
