Salem Police Make Drug Arrest on Washington Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Friday, May 2

  • At 2:22 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Chestnut and Cambridge streets.
  • At 5:43 p.m., police responded to a report of malicious destruction of a door on Lafayette Street. Ernest S. Miron, 42, of 3B Herbert St., Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 5:57 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Derby Street.
  • At 6:25 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lafayette Street.
  • At 6:46 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen wallet at the Market Basket on Highland Avenue. A suspect was caught on video surveillance.
  • At 6:53 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Washington Street. John J. Shoup, 46, of 260 Washington St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class A substance.
  • At 9:18 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Highland Avenue. Xavier Garcia-Borbon, 21, of 10 Porter St. Ct., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (stick), malicious destruction of property valued above $250 and larceny over $250.
  • At 9:48 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Boston Street.
  • At 9:52 p.m., police responded to a past shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Highland Avenue. A warrant will be issued on a charge of shoplifting merchandise valued above $100.
  • At 10:04 p.m., police made an arrest on Gardner Street. Hipolito Pimentel, 54, of 11 Ward St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Saturday, May 3

  • At 12:34 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Palmer Street.
  • At 1:10 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint near the intersection of Salem and Palmer streets.
  • At 9:12 a.m., police responded to a possible water main break on Palfrey Court.
  • At 9:16 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Derby Street.
  • At 9:44 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Derby Street.
  • At 9:50 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 10:45 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on North Street.
  • At 11:02 a.m., a Beach Avenue man called police to report a stolen propane tank.
