Dog Attack Reported on Proctor Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Thursday, Dec. 26

  • At 7:35 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Summit Street.
  • At 8:53 a.m., an employee at King Fish Media on Congress Street called police to report that a sign was stolen from the front of their business.
  • At 9:18 a.m., a woman called police to report that someone attempted to pour sugar into the gas tank of her motor vehicle while it was parked on Lynde Street.
  • At 11:41 a.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the CVS on Essex Street. 
  • At 12:00 p.m., police responded to a report of threats being made on Dow Street.
  • At 1:24 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on New Derby Street.
  • At 1:34 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of Lafayette and Ward streets. John J. Shoup, 46, of 260 Washington St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having three outstanding warrants.
  • At 1:41 p.m., a Proctor Street resident called police to report that their dog was attacked by a neighbor's unleashed pit bull on Dec. 24.
  • At 1:48 p.m., police responded to a reported fraud on Charter Street.
  • At 1:52 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Union Street.
  • At 2:31 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Cherry Street.
  • At 3:26 p.m., a Carpenter Street woman called police to report a theft.
  • At 4:08 p.m., police responded to a report of slashed tires on Rainbow Terrace.
