Police Investigating Attempted Robbery at Salem Hess Station

Sunday, May 11:

  • At 6:43 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Wharf Street.
  • At 7:01 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen bike on Winter Island Road.
  • At 7:12 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Fort Avenue.
  • At 7:20 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Canal Street.
  • At 7:29 p.m., police responded to a report of a car racing up and down Clark Avenue.
  • At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on North Street.
  • At 7:49 p.m., police responded to a report of a dirt bike in the road on Harbor Street.
  • At 8:50 p.m., police responded to a past assault on Winter Island Road.
  • At 8:51 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Paradise Road.
  • At 9:13 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Bridge Street. Richard P. Haidaczuk, 41, of 51 Raddin Grove St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and violating the city's knife ordinance.
  • At 9:58 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Columbus Avenue.
  • At 10:42 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Waite Street.

Monday, May 12

  • At 12:04 a.m., the clerk at the Hess gas station on Derby Street called police to report that he had just chased a would-be robber from the store and into the Wendy's parking lot. The man told police that an approximately 30-year-old white male around 5' 8, 140-pounds, with a beard and glasses walked into the store and demanded money from the cash register.
  • At 1:07 a.m., police responded to a fight on Beaver Street.
  • At 3:23 a.m., police responded to a report of a man looking into cars near the intersection of School and Tremont streets.
  • At 8:25 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Swampscott Road.
  • At 8:30 a.m., police responded to a past shoplifting incident on New Derby Street.
  • At 10:06 a.m., police responded to a report of someone sleeping behind a dumpster on Norman Street.
  • At 12:30 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Charter Street.
  • At 12:53 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Clark Street.
  • At 1:11 p.m., detectives patrolling the South Harbor walkway reportedly witnessed "suspicious activity" on one of the benches. Two people will be summonsed to court on charges of unnatural and lascivious acts.
  • At 1:33 p.m., police made an arrest on Harbor Street. Eddie F. Rodriguez, 21, of 86 Essex St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute.
  • At 3:08 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bridge Street.
  • At 3:33 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist at the intersection of Essex and Jackson streets.
  • At 4:15 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Bridge Street.
  • At 5:10 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on High Street.
Other Arrests

Cynthia M. Keith, 24, of 3 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was arrested for reportedly having four outstanding warrants.

Kara M. Malone, 37, of 2 Prince St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Jamie C. Speicher, 24, of 23 Mill St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and two counts of assault and battery on a police officer.
