Police: Building, Buses Vandalized at Salem High School

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Nov. 7
:

  • At 4:31 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Highland Avenue.
  • At 5:36 p.m., police responded to a dispute between landlord and tenant on Endicott Street.
  • At 5:48 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Broadway.
  • At 5:51 p.m., police made an arrest on Pope Street. Juan B. Abreu, 42, of 79 Boston St., Salem, was arrested by Salem police on two counts of possessing a class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 7:07 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on First Street.
  • At 9:39 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault and battery on Broadway. Jason E. Brown, 30, of 99 Broadway, Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery on an elderly or disabled person, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Friday, Nov. 8

  • At 10:10 a.m., a man entered the police station to report that his wallet was taken from a locker in the locker room of the YMCA on Leggs Hill Road.
  • At 3:00 p.m., police responded to a break-in on Lafayette Street.
  • At 4:09 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walmart on Highland Avenue. David C. O'Connor Jr., 29, of 432 Foster Road, Tewksbury, was arrested for reportedly having four outstanding warrant.
  • At 4:51 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Boston Street.
  • At 7:33 p.m., police responded to a loud house party on Rainbow Terrace.
  • At 7:45 p.m., police responded to a report of a motorist driving erratically on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 8:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a large bonfire on Skerry Street.

Saturday, Nov. 9

  • At 2:51 a.m., police and fire units responded to a structure fire on Grove Street.
  • At 3:22 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Market Basket on Highland Avenue. Two people were issued no trespass orders.
  • At 4:15 p.m., police responded to a report of raccoons walking around in the area of Fort Avenue.
  • At 5:34 p.m., police responded to a report of a man trying car door handles on Becket Street.
  • At 5:41 p.m., the general manager of the Kernwood Country Club called police to report that they believe a server has been stealing from the club. 
  • At 7:27 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Tremont Street. A juvenile was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 8:53 p.m., a woman called police to report that her car was stolen while it was parked on Bridge Street.
  • At 9:26 p.m., police responded to a vehicle break-in on Bridge Street.
  • At 10:16 p.m., police responded to a loud house party on Rainbow Terrace.
  • At 11:31 p.m., police arrested a man on Lafayette Street. Steven F. Swain, 51, of 4 Druid Ave., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.

Sunday, Nov. 10

  • At 12:43 a.m., a man called police to report that he was assaulted by a group of six boys ranging in age from 12 to 16 years old while walking near the intersection of Bridge and Webb streets.
  • At 1:48 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Symonds Street. Anthony S. Granada, 34, of 10 Symonds St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (extension cord).
  • At 4:04 a.m., Salem State University police stopped a motor vehicle on Loring Avenue. Amanda R. Vance, 19, of 5 Timbercreek Lane, Billerica, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 9:22 a.m., police responded to a report of broken windows and vandalized buses at the Salem High School campus on Willson Street. The building that houses the school's vocational education department was damaged.
  • At 12:24 p.m., police responded to a past break-in to a business on Canal Street.
  • At 1:21 p.m., police responded to a report of malicious damage to several buses at Salem High School on Willson Street.
  • At 2:46 p.m., police learned that two school buses parked on Mason Street had also been damaged. The electrical fuse boxes were reportedly damaged. Salem detectives are investigating the incident.

Other arrests: 

Brenda M. Capone, 54, of 177 Winter St., Saugus, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Michael Carreiro, 42, of 39 Endicott St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Greg M. Doane, 37, of 131 Ocean St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license and receiving stolen property.

Thomas W. Hobbs, 32, of the streets of Lynn, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property and possessing a large knife.

Makaylla M. Irving, 21, of 68 Story Ave., Beverly, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.

Justin S. Mattera, 35, of 210 Derby St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.

April A. Pramataris, 33, of 7 Ruthven Terrace, Lynn, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property, illegally possessing a class B substance and possessing a large knife.
