Salem Man Charged With Leaving the Scene of an Accident

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Sunday, April 20

  • At 1:47 p.m., police responded to an alarm on America Way.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Upham Street. Robert P. Thomas, 22, of 35 Upham St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery. Lauren M. McCarthy, 27, of 35 Upham St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon.
  • At 5:00 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Harbor Street.
  • At 5:29 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Roslyn Street.
  • At 6:58 p.m., police responded to a report of a person sleeping in a motor vehicle on Hancock Street.
  • At 8:47 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Hawthorne Boulevard.
  • At 10:25 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on North Street.
  • At 10:31 p.m., an officer disposed of hypodermic needles discovered on Margin Street.
  • At 11:05 p.m., police responded to a loud house party on Osgood Street.

Monday, April 21

  • At 1:11 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Jefferson Avenue. Ericson I. Almonte, 21, of 8 Clifton Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, fifth subsequent offense and for reportedly having four outstanding warrants.
  • At 3:05 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Garden Terrace.
  • At 9:15 a.m., police responded to a report of fresh vandalism on Front Street.
  • At 9:43 a.m., police responded to a past larceny on First Street.
  • At 11:37 a.m., a Boston Street resident called police to report cut electric lines.
  • At 12:31 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lee Fort Terrace.
  • At 1:22 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Heritage Drive.
  • At 2:41 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Harbor Street.
  • At 2:51 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Highland Avenue.
Other Arrests

Phyllis M. Hull, 56, of 104 Linden St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Patricia L. Nieves, 39, of the streets of Lynn, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class A substance.

Jorge L. Rivera, 23, of 99 North St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
