Collins Middle School Student Reports Suspicious Man

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Jan. 16:

  • At 4:26 p.m., police checked on a dog left in a van on Congress Street.
  • At 5:15 p.m., police made an arrest on Washington Street. Jeremy Tchad Ray, 26, of 12 Pope St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 5:33 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Bryant Street. Michael F. Casey, 44, of 17 Bryant St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 5:43 p.m., police responded to a possible hoarding issue on Lafayette Street. 
  • At 6:26 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Salem Street.
  • At 7:13 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bridge Street. Amy M. Gould, 31, of 127 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 7:23 p.m., the mother of a Collins Middle School student called police to report that her daughter told her a man was taking pictures of her on her way home from school. The girl told police the man was also there on Monday and followed her, he was described as a tall thin man with white hair wearing a dark coat. The crossing guard in the area as well as school staff were notified.
  • At 7:51 p.m., police responded to a report of two kids pointing a laser at passing vehicles on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:32 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Heritage Drive.
  • At 9:42 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Highland Avenue. A man was placed into protective custody.
  • At 11:08 p.m., police made an arrest on Margin Street. Corey R. Rosa, 25, of 44 Prince St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.   

Friday, Jan. 17

  • At 1:32 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 2:15 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Highland Avenue. Kevin F. Ferriter, 47, of 91 Lovett St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 9:20 a.m., police made an arrest on Washington Street. John M. Howard Jr., 47, of 116 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on two counts of larceny over $250, two counts of breaking and entering during the daytime to commit a felony and for reportedly having three outstanding warrants.
  • At 9:47 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Hathorne Street.
  • At 12:48 p.m., police responded to a report of two women fighting at the Market Basket on Highland Avenue.
  • At 2:11 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Barr Street.
  • At 4:01 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident on Traders Way.
  • At 4:16 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Boston Street.
Other Arrest

Aron C. Rial, 31, of 22 Mason St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
