Friday, May 9

  • At 4:21 p.m., police responded to a vehicle break-in on Rawlins Street. 
  • At 5:57 p.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man in front of North Shore Medical Center. David W. Melanson, 50, of 20 Sherman Drive, Derry, N.H., was arrested on charges of assault and battery on an EMT and indecent assault and battery on a person over 14.
  • At 6:16 p.m., police responded to an noise complaint on Boston Street.
  • At 7:35 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:33 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Highland Avenue.

Saturday, May 10

  • At 1:46 a.m., police responded to a report of people looking into cars on First Street.
  • At 2:29 a.m., police responded to a house party near the intersection of Chandler and Symonds streets.
  • At 3:11 a.m., police responded to a report of a man trying car doors on First Street.
  • At 8:40 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a police cruiser near the intersection of Washington and New Derby streets.

  • At 2:03 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Washington Street. James T. Hayden, 39, of 47 Butman St., Beverly, was arrested on charges of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, illegally possessing a class B substance (Percocet) and illegally possessing a class D substance (marijuana, more than an ounce).
  • At 2:53 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Mason Street.
  • At 4:33 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Rainbow Terrace. Erick R. Perez, 32, of 7 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 4:52 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Leggs Hill Road.
  • At 5:11 p.m., an office disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Margin Street.
  • At 5:42 p.m., a Fort Avenue man called police to report that someone shot his van with a pellet gun.
  • At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a drag racing report near the intersection of Salem and Dow streets.
  • At 7:43 p.m., police responded to a report of women screaming in the street on Prince Street Place. Kara M. Malone, 37, of 2 Prince St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:35 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Tremont Street.
  • At 10:23 p.m., police responded to a fight in the street near the intersection of Dow and Prince streets.

Sunday, May 11

  • At 12:34 a.m., police responded to a break-in on Garden Terrace. Edwin Burke-Martinez, 22, of 5 McIntyre Court, Peabody, was arrested on charges of breaking and entering during the nighttime with intent to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property valued above $250, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and violating an abuse prevention order.
  • At 2:29 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Palmer Street. Abimael Sanchez Jr., 22, of 210 West St., Brockton, was arrested on a charges of violating city ordinances pertaining to knives and drinking in public.
  • At 7:04 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint near the intersection of Essex and Orange streets.
  • At 9:52 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Mooney Avenue.
  • At 10:50 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Ward Street.
  • At 11:25 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Ward Street.
  • At 12:10 p.m., police responded to a report of a downed tree branch on Boardman Street.
  • At 12:16 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Essex Street.
  • At 1:47 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Gedney Street.
  • At 4:55 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Front Street.
  • At 5:41 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Highland Avenue.
Other Arrest

John D. Herbaugh, 35, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.
