Beverly Man Charged With Damaging Salem Police Cruiser


The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Monday, May 12:

  • At 4:15 p.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Bridge Street.
  • At 4:36 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Fort Avenue.
  • At 5:10 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on High Street.
  • At 5:39 p.m., police responded to a report of wires being torn down by a truck on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 7:35 p.m., a resident turned over medication for safe keeping.
  • At 8:16 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 9:01 p.m., police responded to a report of lights in the woods off of Barcelona Avenue.
  • At 9:27 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute in the woods behind the Walmart on Highland Avenue.
  • At 9:36 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Collins Street.
  • At 10:06 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pope Street.
  • At 10:15 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious people behind a building on Essex Street.
  • At 10:53 p.m., police responded to a report of stolen medication on Paul Avenue.
  • At 11:01 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen phone on Wharf Street.

Tuesday, May 13:

  • At 12:30 a.m., police responded to a report of past threats on Pleasant Street.
  • At 3:12 a.m., police responded to an alarm on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 7:05 a.m., police determined that someone who was arrested on May 12 had done damage to a police cruiser. Jamie C. Speicher, 24, of 23 Mill St., Beverly, will also be charged with malicious destruction of a motor vehicle (police cruiser).
  • At 8:36 a.m., police responded to a report of two students causing a disturbance during MCAS testing.
  • At 9:38 a.m., vehicles were towed near the intersection of Lafayette and Ward streets for street sweeping.
  • At 10:55 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious woman in a yard on Pioneer Terrace.
  • At 11:44 a.m., a vehicle reported stolen out of Lynn was recovered on Upham Street.
  • At 12:02 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Rawlins Street. A man said someone gained access to his apartment through a broken window and several items were missing.
  • At 12:11 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer on Highland Avenue.
  • At 12:47 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Bridge Street. Shayne A. Decesare, 47, of 3 Winchester Terrace, Beverly, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs (Oxycodone).
  • At 12:50 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Summer Street.
  • At 12:57 p.m., police responded to an alarm on Clark Street.
  • At 1:27 p.m., police responded to a report of harassment on Howard Street.
  • At 2:02 p.m., police responded to a missing person on Federal Street.
  • At 2:50 p.m., police responded to a strong odor of gas on Weatherly Drive.
  • At 3:02 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Roslyn Street.
  • At 3:05 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 4:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a fight in the street on Hancock Street.
