Salem Man Accused of Threatening to Shoot Woman on Lafayette Street

Sunday, March 30

  • At 8:17 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Charles Street.
  • At 10:45 p.m., police responded to a report of people looking into vehicles with flashlights on First Street.

Monday, March 31

  • At 12:48 a.m., police responded to a report of a sink hole on Federal Street. The DPW was notified.
  • At 1:55 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Garden Terrace.
  • At 1:59 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Charter Street.
  • At 5:20 a.m., police and fire units responded to a three-alarm fire on School Street. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 5:48 a.m., police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle on Clifton Avenue.
  • At 8:06 a.m., a Salem woman called police to report that she was just threatened while out for a walk on Lafayette Street. The woman said a man armed with a rifle told her not to come near his house again "or he would blow her head off." Wyatt L. Paige, 34, of 293 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon (rifle) and threatening to commit a crime (murder).
  • At 8:12 a.m., police responded to a past break-in at White's Emergency Service on Florence Street. An employee told police another employee had been caught stealing a jar of coins from the rear of the business valued at approximately $120. An investigation is ongoing.
  • At 2:59 p.m., a resident on Dodge Street called police to report that their car had been keyed.
  • At 3:00 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North and Commercial streets.
  • At 3:02 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Washington Square West.
  • At 3:24 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Boston Street.
  • At 4:11 p.m., police responded to a past shoplifting incident on Traders Way.
