Homeless Man Assaulted, Robbed on Norman Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:


Monday, March 17:

  • At 5:13 p.m., police stopped a pair of motorists on scooters on New Derby Street. Anthony J. Gubitosi, 36, of 18 Henry Ave., Lynn, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, second subsequent offense, operating an unregistered motor vehicle. Edgar C. Rodriguez, 46, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, third subsequent offense.
  • At 5:29 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Bridge and North streets.
  • At 5:38 p.m., police made an arrest on New Derby Street. Kareem M. Cook, 22, of the streets of Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 6:30 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Highland Avenue.
  • At 6:35 p.m., police responded to a reported larceny near the intersection of Norman and Crombie streets. A man told police he was assaulted by three men after he asked them for a dollar and they took off with his backpack, which contained his clothes.
  • At 6:45 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Belleview Avenue.
  • At 6:48 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on English Street.
  • At 8:04 p.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man in a flower garden on Essex Street.

Tuesday, March 18:

  • At 12:44 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Boston Street.
  • At 8:08 a.m., police made an arrest on Bridge Street. James J. Irving, 43, of 112 Federal St., Lynn, was arrested on charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense.
  • At 10:26 a.m., police responded to a possible shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on New Derby Street.
  • At 11:59 a.m., police responded to a past break-in at an apartment on Roslyn Street.
  • At 12:36 p.m., police responded to a reported fight between students at Salem Prep High School on Derby Street.
  • At 1:30 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of Cabot and Fairfield streets. Corey M. Inglis, 25, of 18 Cabot St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 2:51 p.m., police responded to a reported sexual assault on Highland Avenue.
  • At 3:39 p.m., police made an arrest on New Derby Street. Andrew Matthews, 30, of 349 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

    Other Arrest

    Raymond R. Thompson, 28, of 95 Lawrence St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
