Alleged Repeat Drunk Driver Found Sleeping Behind the Wheel

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Wednesday, Dec. 11

  • At 5:11 p.m., police responded to a report of harassment on Federal Street.
  • At 7:15 p.m., police made an arrest on Rainbow Terrace. Michael R. Douglas, 27, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 8:52 p.m., police responded to a past assault on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 8:54 p.m., a detail officer on Lafayette Street noticed a highly intoxicated man. Francis G. Green, 48, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:01 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Northend Avenue.
  • At 9:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a man sleeping behind the wheel of a running motor vehicle on Phelps Street. Jacob S. Lee, 39, of 17 Phelps St., Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, second offense and operating an unregistered motor vehicle.
  • At 10:21 p.m., a juvenile was arrested on Mason Street.

Thursday, Dec. 12

  • At 12:05 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Hazel Street.
  • At 12:06 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Belleview Avenue.
  • At 1:03 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Bridge Street.
  • At 1:59 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Grant Road.
  • At 2:04 a.m., Salem State University police made an arrest on Harrison Road. Nyerrie L. Hale, 19, of 71B Loring Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
  • At 7:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious activity on Bow Street.
  • At 8:41 a.m., police responded to a report of harassment on Howard Street.
  • At 9:34 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Ward Street.
  • At 12:44 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Essex Street.
  • At 1:57 p.m., police were called to Beaver Street to keep the peace.
  • At 2:08 p.m., police responded to a report of bones found in a basement on High Street.
  • At 4:11 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Pioneer Terrace.
Other Arrest:

Scott A. Broughton, 27, of 5 Carol Ann Road, Peabody, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
