Salem Police Nab Alleged Drug Dealer on Congress Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:


Friday, Dec. 27
:

  • At 5:19 p.m., police responded to a report of someone with a gun on Liberty Hill Avenue. Responding officers determined that the weapon involved was just a BB gun and a resident was placed into protective custody.
  • At 5:43 p.m., police made an arrest on Margin Street. Timothy T. Gay, 65, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 6:23 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Liberty Hill Avenue. Nicholas C. Michaud, 35, of 5 Liberty Hill Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery. Stefanie Wowk, 30, of 9 Northend Ave., Peabody, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.
  • At 6:58 p.m., police responded to a report of a woman yelling at cars near the intersection of Washington and Front streets.
  • At 7:28 p.m., police made an arrest on Dow Street. Angel A. Avelino Jr., 21, of 56 Dow St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 7:40 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Nichols Street.
  • At 8:18 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Traders Way.

Saturday, Dec. 28
  • At 12:43 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Loring Avenue.
  • At 1:12 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Federal Street.
  • At 7:26 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Norton Terrace.
  • At 10:28 a.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on New Derby Street. Kimberly Santamaria, 45, of 9 Leach St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment.
  • At 11:08 a.m., police responded to a report of possible gunfire on Memorial Drive.
  • At 11:13 a.m., police responded to a medical overdose on Cousins Street.
  • At 12:09 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lynde Street.
  • At 2:02 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Derby Street.
  • At 3:10 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Barton Square. 
  • At 4:07 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of North and Dearborn streets.
  • At 5:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a past dog bite on Federal Street.
  • At 6:24 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Silver Street.
  • At 8:05 p.m., police and fire units responded to a report of smoke in a basement on Ocean Avenue.
  • At 8:55 p.m., police responded to a report of a past vehicle break-in on Pope Street.
  • At 9:48 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident on Marlborough Road.
  • At 11:27 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on May Street.

Sunday, Dec. 29
  • At 12:19 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bay View Avenue. Edward A. Richards, 47, of 91 Bayview Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 1:39 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Orne Street.
  • At 2:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud party on Mason Street.
  • At 3:57 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pleasant Street. Janel J. Martinez, 24, of 30 Pleasant St., Salem, was arrested on two counts of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 8:11 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Norman Street.
  • At 9:57 a.m., police responded to a reported water main break on Fort Avenue.
  • At 11:29 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on North Street. A woman told police she was knocked to the ground and had her purse yanked from her motor vehicle while she was pumping gas.
  • At 1:29 p.m., police made an arrest on Cherry Street. Alison E. Milne, 29, of 14 Cherry St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
  • At 1:38 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person cutting down trees on Harmony Grove Road.
  • At 2:50 p.m., police responded to  past vehicle break-in on Briggs Street.
  • At 2:45 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of Congress and Bridge streets. A juvenile was arrested on charges of trespassing and possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute.
  • At 3:15 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Andrew Street.
Other Arrest:

John R. Aia Jr., 43, of 79 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
