Salem Police Assist With Search for Armed Robbery Suspects

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Jan. 9

  • At 4:21 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Chestnut Street.
  • At 4:44 p.m., police responded to a report of papers missing from a recycling bin on Maple Street.
  • At 5:06 p.m., police responded to a report of unauthorized use of a credit card on North Street.
  • At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on First Street.
  • At 6:57 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 7:09 p.m., police made an arrest on Highland Avenue.
  • At 7:17 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Dow Street.
  • At 8:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a loose dog on Webb Street.
  • At 9:41 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Japonica Avenue.
  • At 9:56 p.m., police stopped a vehicle with New York license plates at the corner of Washington and New Derby streets. They said it was possibly the two suspects from Wednesday's night's attempted robbery in Peabody. Two Peabody officers responded to the scene to speak with the suspects. A replica pellet handgun was found in the vehicle's center console and the two men were identified, photographed and sent on their way.
  • At 10:22 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Essex Street.
  • At 10:40 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Essex Street.
  • At 10:57 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bryant Street.

Friday, Jan. 10:  

  • At 7:15 a.m., a local resident called police to report that their car was stolen from Heritage Drive.
  • At 9:48 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Fort Avenue.
  • At 10:52 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Highland Avenue.
  • At 11:42 a.m., police responded to a report of a possible gas leak on Symonds Street.
  • At 12:17 p.m., police responded to a report of fraudulent use of personal information on Barr Street.
  • At 12:24 p.m., a Grant Road resident called police to report that someone had turned on their outdoor faucets.
  • At 12:32 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at The Boutique on Front Street. The owner showed police video evidence of a past shoplifting incident.
  • At 12:44 p.m., police made an arrest on Highland Avenue. Jehury Melo, 20, of 111 New Park St., Lynn, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 1:42 p.m., police responded to a report of a past larceny at an office on Washington Street.
  • At 4:09 p.m., police responded to a report of a man acting aggressively at a bus stop on Lafayette Street.
