Man Charged With OUI, Lewd Conduct

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Wednesday, Aug. 7


  • At 4:48 p.m., a Marlborough Road resident called police to report that a man unknown to her was in her basement. The intruder was reportedly gone when police arrived.
  • At 5:25 p.m., police responded to a reported dog bite on Marlborough Road.
  • At 5:42 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen bike on Leavitt Street.
  • At 6:40 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Ord Street.
  • At 7:13 p.m., police located a woman known to have an outstanding warrant on Leavitt Street. Victoria L. Verbanas, 29, of 47 Leavitt St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 8:28 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Heritage Drive.
  • At 9:23 p.m., police responded to a report of loud kids on sailboats in Collins Cove. The Harbormaster was notified.

Thursday, Aug. 8

  • At 1:03 a.m., a Hayes Road woman called police to report that her car was stolen.
  • At 6:28 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Planters Street.
  • At 7:20 a.m., police responded to a past motor vehicle break-in on Essex Street.
  • At 9:23 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Belleview Avenue.
  • At 10:39 a.m., police responded to a report of a stolen moped on Bridge Street.
  • At 11:01 a.m., police responded to a dispute on Broad Street.
  • At 1:32 p.m., a stolen scooter was returned to its owner.
  • At 3:18 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man in a motor vehicle on Dearborn Street. John J. Ribadeneyra, 33, of 12 Edwill Road, East Longmeadow, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and open and gross lewdnewss.
  • At 3:43 p.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Highland Avenue. Gary Ulloa-Valdez, 38, of 106 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
  • At 3:46 p.m., police responded to a report of an aggressive panhandler on Essex Street.
  • At 4:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a past break-in at a business on Bridge Street.
  • At 4:20 p.m., a stolen vehicle was recovered and returned to its owner.
  • At 4:29 p.m., a man called police to report that someone loosened all of the nuts on his right rear tire.
Other arrest:

Ronald H. Talbot, 56, of 335 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on two counts of violating an abuse prevention order.
