Cyclist Struck, Injured on Federal Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Wednesday, April 9

  • At 4:00 p.m., police received word that a woman had just picked up a stray dog on Lee Street. The dog was later returned to its owner.
  • At 4:18 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Arthur Street.
  • At 4:19 p.m., police responded to a report of possible drug activity near the intersection of Charter and Liberty streets.
  • At 4:28 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a cyclist at the intersection of North and Federal streets. The cyclist reportedly suffered a head wound and was transported by ambulance to Mass General Hospital. No citations were issued.
  • At 4:48 p.m., police responded to a second motor vehicle accident at the intersection of North and Federal streets.
  • At 4:49 p.m., police responded to a past road rage incident on Bridge Street.
  • At 6:01 p.m., police responded to a past domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 6:35 p.m., police responded to a report of a man causing a disturbance at the Lifebridge shelter on Margin Street. A no trespass order was issued.
  • At 7:53 p.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 9:29 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on First Street.
  • At 9:40 p.m., police made an arrest on Margin Street. Devante X. Hill, 20, of 56 Margin St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:49 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on Federal Street. Someone reportedly backed into a pedestrian and knocked them over.
  • At 11:23 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Pope Street.
  • At 11:27 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Bridge Street.

Thursday, April 10

  • At 6:18 a.m., police responded to a fire alarm on Congress Street.
  • At 8:03 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Lee Fort Terrace.
  • At 8:55 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Farrell Court.
  • At 11:13 a.m., a Norman Street woman called police to report that someone stole her clothes from one of her building's washing machines.
  • At 12:29 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Mason and Tremont streets.
  • At 12:37 p.m., police responded to a past break-in on Tremont Street.
  • At 1:09 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Derby Street.
