Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested Following Crash, Pursuit in Salem

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Oct. 24

  • At 4:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Lafayette Street.
  • At 6:37 p.m., police located a woman known to have an outstanding warrant near the East India Square Mall. Alexandra L. Felix, 18, of 22 Grove St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police responded to a reported domestic assault and battery on Piedmont Street.
  • At 7:29 p.m., police responded to a past shoplifting incident at the CVS on Highland Avenue.
  • At 11:45 p.m., police received word that a man had just pointed a black handgun at a group of people on Dow Street. Ryan J. Hussien, 21, of 148A Washington St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and providing alcohol to a minor. Joseph M. Fronduto, 21, of 41 Newhall Ave., Saugus, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon and being a minor in possession of alcohol. Richard J. Mottola Jr., 26, of 1 Anne Drive, Peabody, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and providing alcohol to a minor. Alex A. Figueroa, 23, of 282 Washington St., Salem, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and providing alcohol to a minor. Abner J. Trinidad, 21, of 8 Lowe St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of assault with a dangerous weapon and providing alcohol to a minor.
  • At 11:57 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of New Derby Street and Klop Alley. A motorist reportedly drove into a metal post while trying to make a left turn onto New Derby Street from Dodge Street Court. The woman was transported to North Shore Medical Center to be treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

Friday, Oct. 25

  • At 12:27 a.m., Salem State University police made an arrest on Loring Avenue. Michael B. Toupence, 20, of 71B Loring Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. Toupence was reportedly pepper sprayed during the arrest.
  • At 2:08 a.m., Salem State University police arrested an alleged drunk driver after a hit-and-run accident on Lincoln Road. Michael T. Murray, 26, of 6 Linden Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and failure to stop for police.
  • At 8:49 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Gedney Street.
  • At 9:07 a.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Pickman Road.
  • At 12:30 p.m., a man called police to report that appliances were stolen from his rental property on Prescott Street.
  • At 12:59 p.m., police on patrol noticed suspicious activity on Lafayette Street. Barry E. Bullock, 55, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class A substance (heroin).
  • At 1:48 p.m., police responded to a report hit-and-run motor vehicle accident involving a school bus near the intersection of Essex and Flint streets. The motorist was later stopped and arrested in Lynn.
  • At 2:04 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Liberty Hill Avenue.
  • At 2:21 p.m., a Search warrant was executed on Park Street. 
  • At 2:52 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident on Highland Avenue. Laura M. Nardella, 53, of 112 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and possessing a large knife.
  • At 4:18 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on First Street.
  • At 4:35 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen skateboard on Dunlap Street.
  • At 4:52 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Proctor Street.
  • At 6:08 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Irving Street.
  • At 7:22 p.m., police responded to a reported assault and battery on Winter Island Road.
Other arrests: 

Francis A. Flaherty, 34, of 112 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.

Sasha S. Pimental
, 20, of 39 Hancock St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class A substance (heroin).
