Copper Downspouts Stolen on Chestnut Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Wednesday, June 18

  • At 4:14 p.m., police made an arrest on Congress Street. Franklin E. Evans, 30, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 5:49 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Boston and Federal streets.
  • At 6:01 p.m., a Chestnut Street resident called police to report that his copper downspouts were stolen sometime overnight.
  • At 6:37 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Charles Street.
  • At 8:40 p.m., police responded to a past dog bite on Pratt Street.
  • At 10:02 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Boston Street.
  • At 10:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a group fighting near the intersection of Washington and Front streets.

Thursday, June 19

  • At 12:06 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Laurel Street.
  • At 5:22 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Bridge Street.
  • At 6:36 a.m., police responded to a past assault on Boston Street.
  • At 7:24 a.m., police responded to a report of two people sleeping in a basement stairwell on Washington Street. Joseph T. Fiandaca, 23, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 11:47 a.m., police responded to a report of a fight in the street near the intersection of Pleasant and Bridge streets.
  • At 12:28 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Walgreens on New Derby Street.
  • At 4:20 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Palmer Street.
