Former Red Lulu Space Trashed, Owner Says

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Saturday, Nov. 2


  • At 1:03 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Boston Street.
  • At 1:22 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Lafayette Street. Richard Cigile, 23, of 6218 Porteridge Lane, Canton, Mich., was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct.
  • At 1:40 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Gardner Street. Michael A. Gentile, 23, of 152 Stratmore Road, Brighton, was arrested on a charge of malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
  • At 3:14 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Lemon Street. Robert J. Swain, 49, of 116 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace. Rory P. Wellington, 37, of 116 Bridge St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of disturbing the peace.
  • At 9:19 a.m., a Northey Street resident entered the police station to report an issue with a neighbor's cat.
  • At 12:36 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Putnam Street. Sean Meninger, 31, of 15 Putnam St., Salem, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon (chair), two counts of intimidation of a witness and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 1:57 p.m., the owner of the Red Lulu on Lafayette Street called police to report that the restaurant had been recently vandalized. The owner reportedly told police she came in to remove restaurant appliances and found fresh damage including cut wires, holes in the walls and the sinks and plumbing backed up.
  • At 2:48 p.m., an anonymous caller called police to report a man with a gun on Endicott Street. Police were unable to find anyone with a weapon.
  • At 5:05 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Market Basket on Highland Avenue. Kristen M. Bell, 32, of 138 Western Ave., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise by concealment, fifth subsequent offense.
  • At 5:41 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Rainbow Terrace. Michael R. Douglas, 27, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
  • At 8:09 p.m., police responded to a road rage incident on Grove Street.
  • At 9:17 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on North Street. A man was placed into protective custody. 

Sunday, Nov. 3

  • At 12:47 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lafayette Street.
  • At 1:24 a.m., a K9 unit was called to assist with the search for a breaking and entering suspect in Swampscott. "Turbo" reportedly followed a fresh scent and located a suspect hiding under a deck in a backyard. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 1:25 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Szetela Lane.
  • At 1:27 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Harrington Court.
  • At 1:45 a.m., police responded to a report of people on a roof on Canal Street. Louis M. Pizzigoni, 26, of Locus Street, Danvers, was arrested on a charge of trespassing.
  • At 8:16 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Clark Avenue.

Other Arrests:

Robert Beauparlant, 50, of the streets of Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Albert G. Rizzo, 45, of 72 Butler St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.
