Salem Police Arrest Lynn Man on Attempted Murder Charge

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Oct. 31:

  •  At 3:36 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud preacher with a megaphone on Essex Street. The man agreed to lower the volume on his megaphone.
  • At 5:12 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man with a sledgehammer on Essex Street.
  • At 5:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud preacher with a megaphone on Wharf Street. The man refused to identify himself and was moved along.
  • At 5:44 p.m., police responded to a fight on Boston Street.
  • At 7:20 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on North Street. Joel B. Laskin, 39, of 2925 Washington St., Roxbury, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, illegally possessing a class B substance, subsequent offense, illegally possessing a class C substance, subsequent offense,  illegally possessing a class E substance, subsequent offense, and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
  • At 7:34 p.m., police confiscated two swords on Washington Street and issued the owner at $150 fine for violating the city's weapon ordinance.
  • At 7:38 p.m., police confiscated a sword and a machete near the intersection of Essex and Washington streets. 
  • At 7:57 p.m., police confiscated two swords on Washington Street. A woman was issued a $150 fine for violating the city's weapon ordinance.
  • At 8:50 p.m., police confiscated a a sword on Higgins Square.
  • At 8:53 p..m., a sword was confiscated on Washington Street. The owner was issued a $150 fine for violating the city's weapon ordinance.
  • At 9:01 p.m., police confiscated a sword on Washington Street.
  • At 9:05 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Loring Avenue.
  • At 9:09 p.m., police confiscated a pitchfork near the intersection of Essex and Washington streets.
  • At 9:18 p.m., police responded to a fight on Lafayette Street. 
  • At 9:55 p.m., police responded to a disturbance on Washington Square South. Ariel Zorrilla, 18, of 11 Wagner St., Peabody, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot).
  • At 10:18 p.m., police responded to a report of people trespassing in the Broad Street Cemetery.
  • At 11:02 p.m., police responded to a loud house party on Carlton Street.
  • At 11:15 p.m., police responded to a disturbance near the intersection of Lafayette and Harbor streets.
  • At 11:33 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident near the intersection of Washington and New Derby streets. Charles C. McCarthy, 33, of 11 Bayberry Lane, Beverly, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 11:37 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle driving on a lawn on Courageous Court. Brianna M. Caron, 20, of 10 Abington Ave., Peabody, was arrested on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Friday, Nov. 1

  • At 12:13 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Garden Terrace. Justin Reynoso, 25, of 48 New Park St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery, attempted murder and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 1:01 a.m., a man called police to report being robbed a knifepoint on Lafayette Street.
  • At 1:02 a.m., police confiscated a BB gun near the intersection of Derby and Lafayette streets.
  • At 1:27 a.m., police responded to a fight on Lafayette Street. Corey R. Marston, 23, of 95 Green St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. Kendall Bridges, 24, of the streets of Lynn, was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct. Joseph C. Lima, 25, of 2 General Patton Drive, Hyannis, was arrested on a charge of possessing a large knife.  Timothy D. Miller Jr., 24, of 9 General Patton Drive, Hyannis, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife) and possessing a large knife.
  • At 1:39 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Mason Street. David J. Christensen, 48, of 257 Washington St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 3:21 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Boston Street. Raquel A. Salerno, 23, of 36 Boston St., Salem, was arrested on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer.
  • At 9:11 a.m., police responded to a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident on Paradise Road.
  • At 10:08 a.m., police received word that a large tree branch had fallen onto a car near the intersection of Cedar and Cherry streets.
  • At 10:24 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Witch Hill Road.
  • At 11:02 a.m., a woman on Highland Avenue called police to report finding a razor in her hot dog.
  • At 12:34 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Essex Street.
  • At 1:15 p.m., police received word that a tree branch had fallen on a car on Essex Street.
  • At 1:50 p.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Federal Street.

Other Arrests:

Taylor E. Shurila, 20, of 29 Birchwood St., West Roxbury, was arrested on a charge of illegally possessing a class C substance. 

Angelis D. Almonte, 20, of 25 Ward St., Salem, was arrested on charges of intimidating a witness and two counts of assault and battery.

Julio Prado-Reyes, 32, of 902 Western Ave., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of possessing a class B substance with intent to distribute, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
