Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested After Whalers Lane Crash

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:


Wednesday, April 2

  • At 4:05 p.m., a First Street man called police to report that a woman entered his apartment and stabbed him in the chest with a pair of scissors. The suspect was later located at the IHOP on Traders Way. Candi-Lora Roper, 40, of 23 Windsor Ave., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (scissors).
  • At 4:20 p.m., police responded to a past larceny on Leggs Hill Road.
  • At 6:07 p.m., police responded to a report of a person in a wheelchair struck by a motor vehicle at the intersection of Derby and Liberty streets.
  • At 6:14 p.m., police responded to a possible fight on Essex Street.
  • At 7:40 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen table on Endicott Street.
  • At 7:48 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Roslyn Street.
  • At 8:36 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault and battery on Highland Avenue. Amber R. Orozco, 26, of 42 Highland Ave., Salem, was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and intimidating a witness.
  • At 9:40 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Cedar Avenue.
  • At 11:09 p.m., police responded to a report of threats with a gun on Highland Avenue.

Thursday, April 3

  • At 12:41 a.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Harbor Street.
  • At 1:21 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Whalers Lane. Ryan Feliz, 25, of 36 Linton Road, Lynn, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 7:05 a.m., a resident called police to report that their tires were slashed on Barr Street.
  • At 10:07 a.m., police responded to a report of a past stolen bicycle on Highland Avenue.
  • At 1:41 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Family Dollar on Canal Street.
  • At 1:49 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Broad Street.
  • At 2:52 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Lawrence Street.
