Homeless Man Charged With Assault on Salem Police Officer

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Tuesday, June 17

  • At 4:09 p.m., police responded to a report of kids throwing firecrackers off of a roof on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 5:29 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Highland Avenue. 
  • At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a possibly drunk woman on First Street. Denise A. Baillie, 60, of 12 First St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 7:14 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity near the intersection of Essex and Washington streets.
  • At 8:16 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of Boston and Bridge streets. Christopher E. Brooks, 23, of 60 Ellsworth Road, Peabody, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, subsequent offense, providing a false name to police and for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:15 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Gedney Court.
  • At 11:52 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident with property damage on First Street.

Wednesday, June 18:

  • At 3:59 a.m., police responded to a report of a downed tree branch on Essex Street.
  • At 6:37 a.m., police responded to an unleashed dog complaint on Boston Street.
  • At 9:26 a.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man sleeping on a bench on Wharf Street.
  • At 10:48 a.m., a woman entered the police to report that she deposited two bad checks into her account.
  • At 11:10 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on a man found sleeping in a cemetery Broad Street.
  • At 11:47 a.m., police responded to a report of a downed tree on Proctor Street.
  • At 1:40 p.m., police made an arrest on Derby Street. Abiezer Cotto, 36, of the streets of Beverly, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, assault and battery on a police officer, malicious destruction of property valued above $250 and for reportedly having three outstanding warrants.
  • At 2:35 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Lafayette Street.
  • At 3:05 p.m., police made an arrest on Leavitt Street. Geovanni O. Rodriguez, 42, of 19 Leavitt St., Salem, was arested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
Other Arrests

Christopher L. Del-Cid, 21, of 102 Newbury St., Danvers, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and battery.

Ramon A. Rodriguez, 52, of 176 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on charges of resisting arrest, assault and battery, indecent assault and battery on a person over 14 and drinking in public.
