Police Nab Alleged Vehicle Burglars on Central Street

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.





The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Saturday, July 6

  • At 12:09 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Rainbow Terrace.
  • At 1:26 a.m., a man called police to report that someone stole his bicycle from his driveway on Parlee Street and left a scooter in its place.
  • At 8:34 a.m., a man called police to report that his bicycle was stolen from the rack at the MBTA station on Bridge Street.
  • At 1:28 p.m., an employee at the CVS on Canal Street called police to report a man trying to pass a false prescription. Laurent E. Madore, 66, of 18 St. Paul St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of unlawfully obtaining a controlled substance.
  • At 3:15 p.m., a woman called police to report that her purse was stolen from her unlocked car while it was parked on Pearl Street.
  • At 4:37 p.m., police responded to a shoplifting incident at the Home Depot on Traders Way. Jamie Drago, 28, of 17 Zito Drive, Saugus, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting merchandise valued over $100.
  • At 6:22 p.m., police responded to a report of two women fighting on Rainbow Terrace. Cynthia M. Keith, 23, of 3 Rainbow Terrace, Salem, was arrested on charges of assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.
  • At 6:38 p.m., police and fire units responded to Commercial Street after receiving word that a dog had fallen into the canal. The dog was eventually captured on Flint Street. The local Animal Control Officer was called to the scene.
  • At 7:33 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Green Street.
  • At 8:00 p.m., police responded to a reported domestic assault and battery on Pond Street. Sarah D. Haskell, 29, of 5 Pond St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery.
  • At 9:33 p.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Lovett Street.


Sunday, July 7


  • At 12:30 a.m., a man called police to report that his bicycle was stolen from in front of The Howling Wolf. The bike was later located at 53 Charter St.
  • At 1:01 a.m., a man called police to report that his friend's motor vehicle had been broken into while parked at the intersection of Central and Charter streets and several items, including a purse, were stolen. A passenger-side window was reportedly smashed during the break-in.
  • At 1:21 a.m., police responded to a vehicle break-in in progress on Central Street. Alonzo J. Scott, 17, of 420 Essex St., Lynn, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property over $250, two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime to commit a felony, and three counts of larceny over $250. Geordany Baptiste, 20, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on charges of receiving stolen property over $250, two counts of breaking and entering a vehicle during the nighttime to commit a felony, and three counts of larceny over $250. Items from the aforementioned vehicle break-in were discovered on the scene.
  • At 1:27 a.m., police responded to a disturbance on Canal Street. Teodoro Villanueva, 39, of the streets of Salem, was arrested on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order. 
  • At 2:19 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Rainbow Terrace.
  • At 3:19 a.m., police responded to a fireworks complaint on Collins Street.
  • At 4:35 a.m., police responded to a reported rape on Lafayette Street.
  • At 7:08 a.m., police responded to a report of a large turtle in the road near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Traders Way.
  • At 9:26 a.m., police responded to a complaint regarding a man playing a saxophone on Charter Street.
  • At 12:04 p.m., hypodermic needles were discovered on Scenic Avenue.
  • At 12:54 p.m., police responded to a report of a man drinking in public on Gedney Court. Dennis W. Duverger, 65, of 34 Hanover St., Lynn, was arrested on a charge of drinking in public.
  • At 2:20 p.m., police responded to shoplifting incident on Highland Avenue.
  • At 4:00 p.m., police received word that a man had jumped off of the Veterans Memorial Bridge. Click Here for our full story.
