'Creepy' Customer Asks Odd Questions at Army Barracks

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 


Thursday, Jan. 30: 

• At 4:33 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Barnes Circle.
• At 4:37 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Tremont Street.
• At 5:28 p.m., police responded to a report of a past vehicle break-in on Daniels Street.
• At 6:02 p.m., police responded to a report of a loose dog on Lafayette Street.
• At 6:31 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious solicitor on Verdon Street.
• At 7:11 p.m., police responded to a dispute between neighbors on Hazel Street.
• At 8:53 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Phelps Street.

Friday, Jan. 31:

• At 1:13 a.m., police responded to a loud house party on Linden Street.
• At 2:09 a.m., police responded to a report of a drunk man walking down the middle of the road on Bridge Street. David K. Moore Jr., 54, of 3 Oak St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
• At 6:08 a.m., police responded to a trash-picking complaint on Washington Street.
• At 10:35 a.m., an officer disposed of a hypodermic needle discovered on Bay View Avenue.
• At 11:03 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lafayette Street.
• At 11:22 a.m., police made an arrest on Federal Street. Heather N. Baron, 27, of 40 Stone St., Beverly, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
• At 12:24 p.m., police responded to the Army Barracks on Essex Street for a report of a suspicious person in the store. An employee told responding officers that a man in his 30s entered the store and started asking odd questions. The employee said the man asked him "what kind of knife could chop someone's head off?" and then said "just kidding." The man also reportedly asked the employee to duck while he was holding a machete and asked if he'd ever killed someone and then said "You should, it's exhilarating," the report reads. Store employees were advised to call the police if the man shows up again.
• At 12:50 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Raymond Road.
• At 12:52 p.m., police responded to a report of suspicious activity on Boston Street.
• At 4:08 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian near the intersection of New Derby Street and Klop Alley. 
• At 4:49 p.m., police made an arrest on North Street. Joseph V. Louf, 37, of 171 North St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  

Other Arrest

Aaron J. Bingham, 31, of 22 Barnes Circle, Salem, was arrested on a charge of violating an abuse prevention order.
