Knife Assault Reported on Ocean Avenue

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Wednesday, Jan. 22

  • At 4:46 p.m., police conducted a well-being check on Tanglewood Lane. 
  • At 4:47 p.m., a man was arrested at Salem District Court. Rafael Lugo-Espaillat, 26, of 61 Congress St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 5:41 p.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Boston Street.
  • At 5:42 p.m., a man was issued a no trespass order on Washington Street.
  • At 6:04 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Roslyn Street.
  • At 6:06 p.m., a stray beagle was found loose on Highland Avenue. The dog was transported to the Northeast Animal Shelter.
  • At 6:40 p.m., police conducted a well-being check near the intersection of Bridge and North streets. 
  • At 6:55 p.m., police responded to a noise complaint on Colby Street.
  • At 7:53 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious person in a building on Boston Street. A man was issued a no trespass order.
  • At 7:56 p.m., police made an arrest near the intersection of High and Pratt streets. Bryna C. Rudolph, 33, of 43 Boston St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 9:19 p.m., police made an arrest on Gedney Court. Matthew J. Fairbanks, 24, of 1 Gedney Court, Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.

Thursday, Jan .23


  • At 1:10 a.m., police conducted a well-being check on Lafayette Street.
  • At 1:43 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Ocean Avenue. Aaron M. Amnott, 21, of 94 Ocean Ave., Salem, was arrested on a charge of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).
  • At 11:15 a.m., police and fire units responded to a vehicle fire near the intersection of Highland Avenue and Green Ledge Street.
  • At 12:27 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen package on Derby Street.
  • At 12:36 p.m., police responded to a report of witness intimidation of Federal Street.
  • At 12:50 p.m., police responded to a dispute on Heritage Drive.
  • At 1:25 p.m., police responded to a report of a past sexual assault on Bridge Street.
  • At 1:53 p.m., police responded to a report of a gas leak at the Walmart on Highland Avenue.
Other Arrests

Jennifer J. Buswell, 26, of 12 Norman St., Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license.

Jose Quirindongo-Rivera, 25, of 172 Marlborough Road, Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a revoked license, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and for reportedly having two outstanding warrants.
