Salem Police Chief Applauds Arrest Following Roslyn Street Stabbing

Salem Police Chief Paul Tucker took to Twitter Monday afternoon to applaud the quick response of local officers.


Salem Police Chief Paul Tucker applauded the quick response by local police officers to an alleged stabbing on Roslyn Street Monday afternoon by posting the following Tweet to his official Twitter account:

"Victim stabbed 3x today,non-life threat, Roslyn St, SPD on scene w/in 1 minute, suspect arrested leaving scene, knife recov'd, great work."

At 12:13 p.m., police responded to a reported armed assault on Roslyn Street and captured the suspect after a brief chase.

Alexander D. Shachook
, 19, of 5 Heritage Drive, Salem, was arrested on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (knife), disturbing the peace, two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon (knife), armed robbery and violating the city's knife ordinance.

Shachook is expected to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Salem District Court.
