Salem Officers Capture Bats on Carpenter Street

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Sunday, Dec. 2:

• At 4:07 p.m., police responded to a reported assault on First Street. A female resident there told police she was jumped by a group of seven girls and was punched in the face.
• At 4:19 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Prince Street.
• At 4:37 p.m., a young boy on Boston Street called 911 to report an attempted murder. A boy told responding officers that he called 911 because he was upset about losing a football game. The children at the home were advised not to call 911 unless it is an emergency.
• At 5:17 p.m., police responded to a reported break-in on Sutton Road. A woman told police that her house was broken into and money and savings bonds were missing.
• At 7:33 p.m., police responded to a report of sewage washing up from a manhole on Sable Road.

• At 9:33 p.m., police responded to a roll-over accident at the intersection of Loring Avenue and Leggs Hill Road that snapped a utility pole in half. Click Here for our full story, including video from the scene.
• At 10:46 p.m., a woman on Carpenter Street called police to report that she was hearing noises coming from the third floor and she feared someone was upstairs. Responding officers reportedly found that two bats flying around on the third floor were responsible for the noises. The bats were reportedly captured and released.

Monday, Dec. 3:

• At 12:04 a.m., police responded to a reported road rage incident on Buffum Street.
• At 12:37 a.m., an Andover police officer reportedly called the station to discuss "suspicious activity that occurred on the roof of the Holyoke Building 15 years ago." 
• At 1:09 a.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Park Street.
• At 6:42 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Essex Street involving a Ford Ranger and a Ford Taurus.
• At 6:48 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle at the intersection of Loring Avenue and Linden Street. John R. Everett, 24, of 97 Webb St., Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, subsequent offense and failure to stop for a school bus.
• At 7:46 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Street involving a Jeep and a Honda.
• At 9:21 a.m., police responded to a report of fresh graffiti on Hanson Street.
• At 9:54 a.m., a man on Canal Street called police to report that four tires and rims were stolen off of a Mitsubishi Lancer over the weekend. The four tires were reportedly valued at $400 and the rims were worth $600.
• At 12:56 p.m., a Boston Street man called police to report that medication was stolen from a safe inside his home.
• At 1:34 p.m., police responded to Salem High School for a reported "disturbance near the art wing." 
• At 2:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a man carrying a file cabinet down Hathorne Street. The man told responding officers that he picked a small refrigerator and a portable dishwasher out of the dumpster behind the Italian American Club.
