Salem Man Arrested on a Slew of Drug Charges

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.






The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Thursday, July 25

  • At 5:06 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Canal Street. Eleuterio Sotodeleon, 32, of 139 Lawton Ave., Lynn, was arrested on charges of providing a false name to police and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 6:50 p.m., a North Street man called police to report that someone broke into his house and stole his Playstation 3, games, a laptop, a DVD writer, a tablet and an air soft handgun.
  • At 7:24 p.m., police responded to a possible overdose on Boston Street. Jamie L. Primus, 25, of 59 Federal St., Beverly, was arrested on a charge of possessing a class A substance (heroin) and for reportedly having four outstanding warrants. Jason G. Pelechowicz, 25, of 5 Bernard Hawks Court, Marblehead, was arrested on a charge of knowingly being present where heroin is being kept.
  • At 9:12 p.m., a Turner Street woman called police to report that someone recently stole her mail.
  • At 10:02 p.m., police responded to a domestic assault and battery on Broad Street.


Friday, July 26


  • At 2:09 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud noise on Juniper Avenue.
  • At 6:00 a.m., police made an arrested on Belleview Avenue. Tiffany L. Zemp, 27, of 53 Belleview Ave., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having seven outstanding warrants. 
  • At 6:29 a.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Clark Street. Joseph W. Stone, 49, of 42 Clark St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 7:27 a.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Loring Avenue. Lidia M. Rodriguez, 20, of 1000 Loring Ave., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 7:56 a.m., police responded to a past vehicle break-in on Orchard Street.
  • At 8:13 a.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Mason Street. Brandon D. Dixon Jr., 25, of 101 Mason St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 8:35 a.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant on Symonds Street. Thomas J. McMahon, 31, of 11 Symond St., Salem, was arrested for reportedly having an outstanding warrant.
  • At 8:47 a.m., police responded to a report of a raccoon eating trash on Jefferson Avenue.
  • At 9:06 a.m., police responded to a past break-in at The Lafayette Hotel.
  • At 12:44 p.m., police responded to a past break-in at a storage unit on Swampscott Road.
  • At 12:58 p.m., police responded to a report of kids throwing rocks at a house on Highland Avenue.
  • At 1:58 p.m., police conducted a search warrant at 335 Lafayette St. after a two week investigation into the sale of narcotics from the house. Christopher Bettencourt, 43, of 335 Lafayette St., Salem, was arrested on charges of possessing a class A substance (heroin) with intent to distribute in a school zone, possessing a class D substance (marijuana) with intent to distribute in a school zone, possessing a class E substance (Gabapentin) with intent to distribute in a school zone,  and four counts of possessing a class B substance (Suboxone, Oxycodone, Focalin, Amphetamines) in a school zone.
  • At 2:55 p.m., a woman entered the police station to report that someone stole her handicapped placard from her motor vehicle while it was parked on Highland Avenue.
  • At 3:15 p.m., a Loring Avenue woman called police to report that someone stolen a package from her front porch.
