The Massachusetts State Police Disabled Persons Protection Unit arrested a Salem man Tuesday morning on indecent assault and battery charges.
According to WCVB, Robert T. Buckley, 64, of Salem, was ordered held on $1,000 bail after pleading not guilty on four counts of indecent assault and battery on a person with a developmental/intellectual disability and a single count of intimidating a witness.
Police believe Buckley assaulted two developmentally disabled people in their 20s whom he regularly transported as part of his job with a private transportation company, according to a release.
The investigation by state troopers began several days ago following a telephone complaint made to the Commission’s hotline. Troopers worked in conjunction with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office and the state Department of Developmental Services.
