Salem Woman's 'Piggybacking' Arrest Caught on Video
A Salem woman was arrested in Boston Monday afternoon following an alleged "piggybacking" fare evasion offense at the Chinatown MBTA station.
It's no secret that MBTA transit police officers have been cracking down on illegal riders.
According to an article recently published in the Boston Globe, transit police officials are reporting "a nearly 40 percent increase in fare evasion citations issued, with 4,753 issued in 2012, compared with 3,428 in 2011."

A Salem woman learned about the crackdown first-hand Monday afternoon when she was arrested after "piggybacking" behind a paying customer at the Chinatown MBTA station in Boston - and the whole thing was caught on camera.

Rosa Madrano, 43, of Salem, was arrested by MBTA transit police officers after they discovered that she had an active warrant out of Salem District Court.
"In the coming new year, transit police officers will continue to enforce fare evasion throughout the MBTA system in both a uniformed and plainclothes capacity," the blog post read.
