Report: Water Main Break on Jefferson Avenue

The following message was issued by the city of Salem Saturday morning: 

There has been a water  main break on Jefferson Avenue. Local DPW crews are on site working to fix this break.  

Nearby residents might experience no water, a drop in water pressure or brown water as a result of the break.

Once your water service is restored, you may experience brown water.

This is not unusual. Do not turn on your hot water. Run your cold water until it is clear.
