Police: Salem Woman Drove Drunk On Train Tracks With Child Passenger

A Salem woman is accused of driving drunk on the train tracks with a 5-year-old child in the vehicle.

A Salem woman was arrested at the Beverly Depot Friday night after reportedly driving drunk on the railroad tracks with a 5-year-old child in the vehicle.

Michelle Leclair, 46, of Griswold Drive, Salem, was arrested on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and reckless endangerment of a child, Beverly Lt. Michael Devlin said.

At 9:55 p.m., Beverly police and fire personnel responded to the Beverly Depot on Parks Street after receiving word that an SUV had just crashed into a wall along the train tracks.

A witness reportedly told police they saw a vehicle turn onto the tracks off of Elliott Street. Leclair's Ford Explorer reportedly made it a half-mile down the tracks before crashing.

The photo above was posted to the Beverly Fire Department's Facebook page Friday night.

Leclair is expected to be arraigned in Salem District Court Monday morning.
