Police Respond to Mystery Handprint

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The Salem Police responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Wednesday and Thursday.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

5:41 p.m. — Panhandlers were reported at Highland Avenue and Swampscott Road.

5:55 p.m. — Police said a suspicious person entered a breezeway on Belleau Road.

7:16 p.m. — A man and woman arguing were reported at Larchmont and Claremont roads.

7:51 p.m. — Police said a person was reportedly assaulted on Margin Street. A man said he met a woman and they went to buy beer. When the man told the woman he didn't have money, she allegedly "started to yell and swing her arms." The man said the woman struck him. Police were not able to find the woman.

8:12 p.m. — Threats over the phone were reported on Porter Court.

9:01 p.m. — Women reported they thought they were being followed on Bridge street. Police said the women told them a man was following them on a BMX bicycle put left before police arrived.

9:35 p.m. — Police said a large group was reported in front of Bangkok Paradise. There were six people in front of the building talking to each other, and they were advised to go inside or leave the area.

9:51 p.m. — A dispute with a neighbor over parking was reported on Harbor Street.

10:42 p.m. — Police said a stolen purse was reported in the Lynde Street lot.

Wednesday Arrests

Levon Harewood, 21, of 50 Bismark St. in Boston was arrested on a shoplifting charge.

Teodoso Tejeda, 44, of 64 Palmer St. was arrested on charges of operating after a license suspension and driving with a rejected or expired inspection sticker.

Thursday, Sept. 27

12:12 a.m. — Police said a stolen purse was reported at Salem Hospital.

2:09 a.m. — A woman said she lost her keys on Washington Street.

8:55 a.m. — Police said a past break-in to a vehicle was reported on Highland Avenue. Police said the steering column was damaged.

10:21 a.m. — "A few men arguing" were reported at Lafayette and Harbor streets.

11:35 a.m. — People fighting out front were report on Collins Street.

1:46 a.m. — A suspicious handprint was reported on the back door of a Ravenna Avenue residence. The person said she found a print on a slider. The woman said the curtain has been in front of the slider and she didn't know how long the print had been there.

3:04 p.m. — Kids trying to break park equipment were reported on May Street. Police spoke to a girl who said "she was punching things because her iPod had been stolen." Police said nothing appeared to be broken, and the girl apologized for her behavior.

3:08 p.m. — Two people harassing tourists were reported on East India Square. Police were not able to locate the people.

Thursday Arrests

Eric Robert Barbeau, 27, of 19 Beacon St. was arrested on a charge of operating under the influence of liquor (second offense).

Peterson Desrosiers, 20, of 60 Dow St. was arrested on charges of operating after a license suspension and a one-way street violation.

Craig George Mannetta, 24, of 82 Golden Hill Road in Saugus was arrested on charges of larceny from a person and intimidation of a witness.
