Police Investigating Stabbing Aboard Salem State University Bus

Police are investigating a stabbing incident that occurred aboard a Salem State University shuttle bus Wednesday morning.


Salem police are searching the area around Salem State University for a Woburn man believed to have stabbed two people aboard one of the university's shuttle busses Wednesday morning.

UPDATEPolice have identified and released a photo of the suspect, Timothy Wells, 25, of Woburn.

According to an alert issued by the college, at approximately 11:10 a.m., Wells assaulted two people with a knife on a shuttle bus in the Central Campus parking lot.

A female student reportedly sustained a laceration to her arm. The driver of the shuttle bus reportedly attempted to assist victim and received a minor puncture wound to the chest.

The student was treated on scene and the driver was transported to a local hospital.

Local police were reportedly chasing a brown Toyota Camry down Jefferson Avenue shortly after the incident.

Wells is described as being a white male, with long red/ blonde hair, some facial hair and approximately 20 years old. He was wearing a white shirt, gray baseball cap, khaki pants and red sneakers.

Wells reportedly fled campus on foot towards the CVS and was later seen and pursued in a 1999 Toyota Camry heading down Jefferson Avenue toward downtown Salem.
