Nobody Injured When Excavator Tips Over at Salem State

An excavator tipped over on Monday during work to relocate utilities in advance of a residence hall construction project at Salem State.

Nobody was injured when an excavator tipped over at a Salem State University construction site on Monday.

It happened at about 12:30 p.m. on central campus, just off Loring Avenue.

College spokeswoman Karen Cady said nobody was injured and a safety officer from the construction company, Turner Construction, was on scene. The excavator is owned by J. Derenzo, she said.

In response to a question from Patch, a witness, Adam Elias, said on Twitter that the person operating the excavator when it tipped appeared to be OK.

Turner was working to relocate utilities in preparation for construction of a new residence hall, Cady said.
