Man Has Son Hide, Film Alleged Vehicle Vandal in Salem

A man told Salem police he had his son hide out in the back seat of his truck Tuesday to film whoever has been tampering with his vehicle.

After receiving vulgur notes and finding his vehicle smeared with peanut butter, a local man took matters into his own hands Tuesday when he asked his teenage son to hide out in the back seat of his truck with a camera.

At 10:23 a.m., police responded to Heritage Drive after receiving word that someone had been captured on camera tampering with a truck.

Responding officers reportedly met a man who told them that ongoing construction in the hospital's the parking lot has forced him to park on Heritage Drive and ever since he started parking there he has been finding vulgar notes on his truck and even found it smeared with peanut butter Monday evening.

So, when he went into work on Tuesday, the man had his teenage son hide in the back seat in an attempt to film the culprit, according to this morning's police log post.

The man's son told police it wasn't long before he heard someone walking around the perimeter of the truck and he successfully recorded a man spitting into the back of the vehicle without being noticed.

When police officers reviewed the video footage, they recognized the man spitting on the truck as the owner of a nearby home and reportedly spoke with him about the incident.
