Man Allegedly Tries to Steal Pornographic DVDs

The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Sunday and Monday.

Sunday, April 15

4:45 p.m. — A dispute between neighbors was reported on Clark Street. Police said the issue was over a driveway.

5:03 p.m. — Police took a report on an issue involving dogs that allegedly occurred on Becket Street. A woman told police her neighbor's dog and her dog got in a fight over a toy, and the neighbor's dog bit her when she tried to pull her dog away. The woman said after the incident her neighbor told her: "If you want trouble you will get it." The neighbor told police she didn't know which dog bit the woman, and she denied making the comment.

6:29 p.m. — A hypodermic needle was found on Wharf Street.

6:49 p.m. — Suspicious damage to a vehicle was reported on Palmer Street.

7:18 p.m. — A Boston Street resident called to report stolen flowers. A man said a group of 10 kids came and picked several flowers. Police were not able to locate the suspects.

11:05 p.m. — A fight in the street was reported on Perkins Street.

Sunday Arrsts

Manuel G. Baez, 23, of 12 Newbury St. in Beverly was arrested on a warrant.

Francis D. Bennett, 23, of 10 Lynch St. was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle with a revoked license and operating an unregistered vehicle.

Sharif R. Hamdi, 20, of 7 Colby Ct. in North Andover was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Jamie L. Perry, 28, of 71A Loring Ave. was arrested on charges of domestic assault and battery and resisting arrest.

Monday, April 16

12:53 a.m. — Police said narcotics were found on a patient at . The investigation is ongoing.

1:21 a.m. — Police responded to Klop Alley where police spoke with a woman who said someone drew on the hood of her car with a black marker.

1:24 p.m. — A fight in the street was reported on North Street, but police were not able to find anything.

4:27 a.m. — A possible house break-in was reported on Lions Lane.

6:50 a.m. — Police responded to Ocean Avenue West on a report a car was egged overnight. A man said sometime overnight his daughter's vehicle was egged and shaving cream was put on the door handles.

6:55 a.m. — A vehicle break-in was reported on Cabot Street. A man told police his vehicle was keyed and the seats in the vehicle were cut.

7:32 a.m. — Police said a dumpster fire was reported on Grove Street. The put it out.

8:05 a.m. — Police said a Bradley Road resident reported her car was egged.

8:29 a.m. — A keyed vehicle was reported on Highland Avenue.

10:13 a.m. — A Rawlins Street resident told police his vehicle and fence were egged overnight.

11:52 a.m. — A break-in to an apartment was reported on Bridge Street.

12:19 p.m. — Police responded to on a call about a shoplifter. Police said employees saw a man take three pornographic DVDs valued at $9.99 each. The man was issued a no trespass order.

4:13 p.m. — A naked man was reported behind a Lafayette Street building.

Monday Arrest

Stephen Spillers, 26, of 116 Lafayette St. was arrested on a warrant.
