Man Accuses Neighbor of Herbicide by Pesticide

The following was provided by the Salem Police Department. Where charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The responded to the following calls on Sunday and Monday.

Sunday, July 8

4:22 p.m. — A man sleeping in the bushes was reported on Church Street.

4:29 p.m. — Police received a call a firearm was left in an unattended vehicle on Briggs Street. An officer saw a black rifle in the backseat. The vehicle was locked, but the sliding window was open and the officer was able to retrieve it for safekeeping. Police said the gun was an unloaded BB gun. The owner came to the station, was advised and the gun was returned, police said.

5:09 p.m. — A man on Lafayette Street said he was being harassed over a tarp and other boating materials he did not steal.

6:40 p.m. — A person "being rude on the phone" was reported at Bridge and Washington streets.

6:57 p.m. —  Police said a woman on Highland Avenue said she was touched on the arm by a man that lives in her building. The man said he touched the woman's shoulder in the elevator and said "boy is it hot out today," but he didn't mean anything by it.

11:03 p.m. — A man checking car doors was reported on Bridge Street. Police said a man was putting business cards on the vehicle.

Monday, July 9

12:01 a.m. — A tree limb in the street was reported on Essex Street.

2:58 a.m. — Police said a person yelling at a clerk was reported on Norman Street.

6:56 a.m. — Officers tried to capture a wounded goose on Highland Avenue, but they were not able to capture the animal.

8:38 a.m. — A wallet was found on Essex Street.

8:48 a.m. — Shoes, a shirt and boxers were found at the end of Derby Wharf.

9:22 a.m. — A stolen moped was reported at the lot.

1:57 p.m. — Police said a stray cat was reported on Margin Street.

3:05 p.m. — A Wall Street man told police his neighbor is destroying his vegetable garden by dumping trash. He also thinks his neighbor has been spraying pesticides to kill his plants, police said.

Monday Arrests

George Allen Anderson, 37, of 1 Ropes St. was arrested on a warrant.

Luis Canela, 26, of 6 March St. was arrested on a vandalism charge.

Jordan Michael Desmond, 20, of 78 Orchard St. was arrested on two warrants.

Courtney Ann Fuller, 32, of 37 Sand Pond Road in Ayer was arrested on a charge of driving after a license suspension.

Jeffery Alan Hamor, 51, who is listed as homeless was arrested for trespassing.

Henrique Ortmayer, 18, of 45 Washington St. in Peabody was arrested on a warrant. He was also arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle after a license suspension.

Christopher L. Rice, 39, of 277 Lafayette St. was arrested on a domestic assault and battery charge.

Mary Brennan Strong, 49, of 1 Washington St. was arrested on a warrant.
