Lengthy Dunkin' Bathroom Visit Ends in Arrest

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Monday, Feb. 11:

• At 4:03 p.m., police located a man known to have outstanding warrants at the intersection of Congress and Palmer streets. Raymond R. Thompson, 28, of 16 Holly St., Salem, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
• At 4:08 p.m., police and fire units responded to a plow on fire on Jefferson Avenue. A pickup reoortedly caught on fire from plowing and was extinguished by local firefighters.
• At 4:27 p.m., police responded to a report of a possibly rabid skunk near the intersection of Grove and Beaver streets.
• At 4:28 p.m., a woman called police to report that several unauthorized purchases had been made on her credit card.
• At 4:39 p.m., police responded to a report of a man trying to grab a baby on Congress Street. After a brief investigation, Jehury Melo will be summonsed to court on a charge of assault and battery.
• At 5:15 p.m., police responded to the Dunkin Donuts on Canal Street after receiving word that a man was refusing to leave the bathroom. When responding officers spoke to the man, he reportedly told them "he wasn't done yet." Mark A. Duchemin, 29, of 7 Michela Way, Nottingham, N.H., was later arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
• At 6:00 p.m., a woman entered the police station to report that the rear license plate was stolen off of her car.
• At 6:30 p.m., police responded to a dispute over snow removal on Oliver Street.
• At 6:50 p.m., police located a man known to have an outstanding warrant at the intersection of Washington and Lafayette streets. William Pasquale Jr., 24, of 8 Nobel Lane, Peabody, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
• At 9:12 p.m., police located a man on Leavitt Street known to have outstanding warrants. Kevin J. Mejia, 20, of 18 Leavitt St., Salem, was arrested for having two outstanding warrants.
• At 10:53 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Pope Street.
• At 11:31 p.m., police responded to a domestic dispute on Washington Street.

Tuesday, Feb. 12:

• At 1:45 a.m., police stopped a motor vehicle on Lafayette Street. Abimael Sanchez, 22, of 35 Palmer St., Salem, was arrested on a charge of unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
• At 5:27 a.m., Salem State University police arrested a woman for domestic assault and battery after an alleged altercation. Jacqueline R. Toomey, 19, of 7 Pratt Drive, Norton, was arrested on a charge of assault and battery.
• At 8:05 a.m., an employee at Giovanni's Roast Beef and Pizza on Jefferson Avenue called police to report that someone smashed the glass on the front door of the business overnight.
• At 9:01 a.m., police located a man known to have outstanding warrants on Highland Avenue. Reginald L. Davis, 21, of 9 Aspen St., Lynn, was arrested for having an outstanding warrant.
• At 9:41 a.m., a Shore Avenue resident called police to report being scammed out of money.
• At 2:44 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at the TJ Maxx on Trader's Way.
• At 3:23 p.m., police located a man wanted by Lynn Police on Rainbow Terrace. Dana P. Coogan, 31, of 90 Claredon Ave., Lynn, was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and malicious destruction of property valued above $250.
