Ice Cream Line Mistaken for Fight

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday, April 2

5:27 p.m. — A man yelling on a roof was reported on Bridge Street. Police spoke with one person who did not see anyone or hear anyone. Another person said she saw a man on the roof yelling, but police were not able to locate him.

5:57 p.m. — Police said a disturbance or possible fight was reported on Washington Street. Police responded to and they said there was "no fight — just free ice cream."

6:40 a.m. — A possible past assault was reported on Traders Way.

6:50 p.m. — A broken down wheelchair was reported on Highland Avenue.

7:37 p.m. —Police responded to Federal Street on a report someone may have broken into a home. Police spoke with a woman who said she thought someone may have broken into her house because a mini-blind was broken on a French Door and a feather duster had been moved. Police said there was no sign of forced entry, but extra checks of the home would be made.

8:25 p.m. — Malicious damage to a window was reported on North Street. The damage was on a second-floor interior window.

9:48 p.m. — A stolen bank card was reported on Phillips Street.

10:12 p.m. — Threats were reported at . Police said a man outside the bar said there was an intoxicated man at the bar earlier who was giving him a hard time. Police said the man had left the area.

10:54 p.m. — Police responded to a dispute over alcohol on Downing Street. Police spoke with two people who said they were fine and said they were arguing "over something silly." Officers told the people to keep the noise down.

Tuesday Arrests

Courtney  Arsenault, 26, of 8 Williams St., was arrested on a warrant.

Dirk Leonard Harewood, 37, of 83 Rainbow Tr., was arrested on a domestic assault and battery charge.

Kim Lee Reed, 44, of 18 Woodman Way in Newburyport, was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor, illegal possession of a class B substance and an one-way street violation.

Joanne Marie Wolftail, 44, of 56 Margin Street, was arrested on a warrant.

Wednesday, April 4

12:05 a.m. — Police said a woman came to the station to report she had been followed by a vehicle. The woman said she was pulled over in the area of Jackson Street when a vehicle pulled up beside her. The woman said the male driver in the other car was staring at her. She started to drive away, and then the other vehicle began to tailgate her. Police said the woman told them she was in fear so she continued driving and pulled into . The man pulled up beside her again. This time, police said, the man began to ask her questions. The woman said she became frightened again and drove away to the police station. Police said they checked the area and were not able to locate the vehicle. Officers followed the woman to her home. She said she felt comfortable staying there for the night.

12:14 a.m. — Police received an abandoned 911 call from Heritage Drive. Police said a man told them he dialed by accident and he was trying to reach 411. Officers checked the home and all appeared normal.

2:12 a.m. — An officer was involved in a motor vehicle accident at New Derby Street and Klop Alley. The officer reported a vehicle was acting suspiciously and circling the area. The officer said when the suspect vehicle stopped, he stopped behind it at which point he said the other vehicle backed into the front end of the cruiser. Police said the driver told the officer she was looking for her boyfriend, and he was supposed to be at the Hess Gas Station. Police said the woman passed all field sobriety tests and appeared fine, but "she had no explanation as to why she put her car in reverse." She was cited for failing to use care backing and a marked lanes violation. A man arrived on scene and said he was the driver's boyfriend. he was arrested (see below).

2:38 a.m. — Kyle Upton (see below) was arrested after police said he walked up to the scene of the above accident involving his girlfriend and a cruiser while the officer was issuing her a citation. Police said the girlfriend started yelling at the man. The man was checked, and police found a knife that violated the city's knife ordinance in his posession.

6:55 p.m. — A child acting out of control was reported on Buffum Street.

7:25 p.m. — A  smashed back window on a motor vehicle was reported on Buffum Street.

10:21 p.m. — Police responded to the

2:32 p.m. — A woman reported her pocketbook was stolen from the back of her chair while she was at the night prior.

Wednesday Arrests

Vito Aiello, 35, of 125 Maplewood Ave. in Gloucester, was arrested on a charge of violation of the city knife ordinance.

Joseph Thomas Anderson, 18, of 9 Jacobs St. in Peabody, was arrested on two warrants.

Jeremy A. Kozubek, 26,  of 60 Marlborough Rd., was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor.

Kyle R. Upton, 27, of 159 Main St. in Peabody, was arrested on a charge of violating the city knife ordinance.
