Did Peabody Robbery Suspect Hit Salem 7-Eleven?

The description of the suspect in an armed robbery in Peabody matches these surveillance images of the suspect in last week's robbery at a Salem 7-Eleven.

Peabody police arrested a Peabody man Monday afternoon on a warrant in connection to an armed robbery at Town Variety the night before.

The description of the suspect in Sunday's robbery in Peabody - a white male in his 40s,  who was dressed in a dark plaid green jacket, black winter hat and jeans - matches exactly this surveillance image taken during an armed robbery at a 7-Eleven in Salem last week.

Similar to Salem's robbery, the suspect reportedly wielded a small black handgun during the robbery at Town Variety in Peabody.

Glenn E. Roderick, 41, of 18 Elm St. #2, Peabody, was served with an outstanding warrant from Peabody District Court for a charge of armed robbery with a firearm.

According to a police log entry, Roderick was taken into custody by Detective Joseph Gilroy at approximately 1:49 p.m. at 117 Lowell St.

Police had been searching for Roderick and another male suspect since shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday when the robbery occurred. Both state police K-9s and helicopters aided in the search Sunday night.

Police shortly identified two suspects, one of them being Roderick and the other a Lynn man and obtained a warrant for Roderick's arrest on the aforementioned charge.

According to state police, one suspect was seen running into a house at 86R Endicott St. shortly after the robbery while a second person who was possibly involved was outside the home. As officers arrived, the first suspect ran out a rear door and then police discovered the second man had taken off as well before they could question him.

Peabody Police Detective Michael Crane confirmed Monday afternoon that Roderick was arrested in connection with the robbery and said the incident is still actively under investigation.

A representative of the Salem Police Department said local detectives have not yet announced that they are investigating a possible connection between the two robberies.

Salem Patch will be posting additional information as it becomes available.
