Comment About Wife Sparks Verbal Argument During Dart Game

The responded to the following calls and made the following arrests on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday, April 17

5:06 p.m. — Police responded to Cherry Street on a report a 2-year-old was locked in a vehicle. A woman told police her 2-year-old was playing with the keys and locked all the doors while her mother was putting her in a car seat. was able to free the child.

6:02 p.m. — A motor vehicle break-in was reported on Walter Street.

7:04 p.m. — A suspicious vehicle was reported at . After a brief investigation police said a small amount of contraband was confiscated from a man and his friend.

8:43 p.m. — A woman came to the station to report her phone was lost or stolen in a group classroom at the on Sewall Street.

9:01 p.m. — Police responded to Harbor Street on a report a woman was just assaulted. Police said the woman was highly intoxicated. She told officers she believed she was assaulted the day prior, but then said she wasn't sure if she had actually been assaulted that day. Police said the woman could not remember who assaulted her, and she said she was hit in the head. Police said the woman "did not have any injuries and she was unsteady on her feet and was incoherent." The woman was taken into protective custody.

9:19 .m. — A group of six or eight kids running through yards on Linden Street was reported. Police said the kids "related they were playing a game called man hunter, which is like hide and seek." The kids were told not to run through people's yards.

9:27 p.m. — A caller at Harbor and Lafayette streets reported a group of kids broke a house window. Police caught up with two teens fitting the description, but they denied they broke a window. Police said no witnesses came forward. 

9:23 p.m. — Police responded to to evaluate the noise of the trivia night host. The volume was turned down, police said.

10:08 p.m. — Police received another call about a group of kids at Linden and Holly streets. The officer said the kids were sitting on a curb and advised to go home for the night.

10:35 p.m. — An undesirable was reported at the on Endicott Street. A man said he had been in a verbal argument with a man while playing darts. The man told police the other man was drunk, and the man made a derogatory comments about his wife.

Tuesday Arrests

Abiezer Cotto, 35, of 8 Cherry St., was arrested on a warrant.

Jack A. Meyers, 23, of 12 Pope St., was arrested on charges of failing to signal before a stop, violation of the knife ordinance, illegal possession of a class A substance and illegal possession of a class C substance.

Wednesday, April 19

12 a.m. — Robert Ryan (see below) was arrested after police responded to a report of a man laid out in a Forrester Street driveway.

7:16 a.m. — Workers cutting down trees in violation of the city's noise ordinance were reported on Felt street. Police advised the site manager that the landscaping company would have to wait until 8 a.m. to start work.

10:58 a.m. — A shoplifter was reported at . Police said an employee saw a man stuff two pouches of tobacco in his pants and leave the store. The man gave the tobacco back after an employee grabbed him outside the store. Police were not able to located the alleged shoplifter.

12:49 p.m. — Police said a puppy got stuck between a screen and a window on March Street. The Salem Fire Department responded and released the screen. The police officer took the puppy because it could not be placed back inside the home, and the condo's resident was not home. The tenant picked up the puppy at the station.

2:22 p.m. — A kid throwing water balloons at cars from an Ocean Avenue residence was reported. Police responded and saw a young boy on the porch of the residence with broken balloons just below the porch and scattered in the street. Police spoke with a man who immediately stated it was his son who was throwing the balloons, and he had advised his son to stop.

3:22 p.m. — Graffiti to the bike path at Rosedale Avenue was reported to police.

3:37 p.m. — A squirrel issue was reported on Logan Street.

Wednesday, April 18

Junior Arriola-Mena, 24, of 435 Quincy St. in Dorchester, was arrested on a charge of larceny of property over $250 (rugs)

Robert F. Ryan, 55, of 13 Daniels St., was arrested on charges of operating under the influence of drugs, illegal possession of a class A substance, giving a false name to police and operating with a revoked license. He also had three warrants.
