Caller Reports Rabid, Stray Cat in Loring Towers

The following is an excerpt from the Tuesday log. Police responded to a call about a son banging on a door and parking issues on . Officers also made several arrests.

  • Police responded to a call about a drunk individual on Margin Street at 1:07 a.m. Monday. Police said the individual was waiting for a ride home. Officers stood by until the man's ride showed up.
  • At 1:39 a.m. Monday, police responded to Wheatland Street on a report of a son banging on the front door. Police said the individual wanted to drive while intoxicated, but his parents took away the keys. The individual was taken into protective custody, police said.
  • Police and fire assisted a Lafayette Street woman who was locked out of her apartment at 5:26 a.m. Monday.
  • At 7:01 a.m. Monday, police responded to the Blaney Street lot after they were called about vehicles impeding construction work. Police said the construction company would post the length of the no-parking designation for the construction project.
  • Police said a Balcomb Street resident came into the station at 8:40 a.m. Monday to report his daughter is being harassed by a co-worker and has been receiving harassing text messages.
  • At 8:43 a.m Monday, police were called to Peabody Street to retrieve a bullet found on National Grid property. Police said the bullet was from a .357 Magnum. Police said the origin of bullet was unknown.
  • Police said a Scotia Road caller came into the station at 9:29 a.m. Monday to report her neighbors had an outdoor fire in their backyard Saturday evening. When they did not put the fire out after she yelled at them, she called the . The woman told police the neighbors put the fire out when they heard the fire engine sirens.
  • Four Lynn men were arrested at 10:32 a.m. Monday by after police said they were loitering beneath a no-trespassing sign by the store. Police said the loitering issue has been a continuing problem.
  • At 10:46 a.m. Monday, police received a call about a vehicle fire in a parking lot on Highland Avenue. Police said the fire appeared to have started in the engine compartment. The owner was in the building for a doctor's appointment at the time.
  • Police received a call about a back window smashed out at at 11:07 a.m. Monday. Police said the incident occurred sometime over the weekend.
  • Police and animal control responded to a call from at 2:20 p.m. Monday after it was reported a rabid, stray cat was in an apartment.

  • Paul Frances Goodwin, 41, of 84 Aborn St., in Peabody, was arrested on a warrant.
  • Gervin Gomez, 28, of 15 Robinson St., in Lynn, was arrested on a trepassing charge.
