Beach Avenue Blaze Ruled Accidental, Electrical

A fire that damaged a Beach Avenue home Thursday morning has been ruled accidental.

Fire investigators looking into a three-alarm fire that ripped through an ocean-front home in the Salem Willows Thursday morning have determined that the blaze originated in the basement and was accidental.

Lt. Tim Flynn and Lt. Mike Leonard, who were charged with investigating the blaze, ruled that the fire originated in the basement and was likely the result of an electrical malfunction, Salem Fire Capt. Alan Dionne confirmed Sunday night.

At 8:39 a.m., fire personnel from Salem and four other North Shore communities responded to a fire at 1 Beach Ave.

The two-story home, located on the corner of Sutton Avenue, was an original Salem Willows summer camp house that had been converted to a single-family home, firefighters said.

Three adults and three teenagers were displaced as a result of the fire and there were no reported injuries.
